Rent equipment from our farm to simplify your poultry and beekeeping! We know how difficult and expensive it can be to own your equipment so we are excited to share this rental service. Renting from us allows us to set aside the funds to upgrade future equipment. We also dream of having onsite processing facilities and this allows us to save money to be one step closer to that dream!

Poultry Plucker Rental

Investing in poultry processing equipment can be a major expense and storage issue when you are only processing a few times a year! We are happy to offer our processing equipment to families raising their own poultry for home use! Due to the labeling and inspection, this equipment is not intended to be used for poultry to be resold. However, we spent many years using this equipment bartering with friends to fill their freezers.

The bonus: renting our equipment helps us set aside money to upgrade our equipment available to rent! We dream of one day having a place to process poultry for resale on our farm! We will provide a crash course before sending you with equipment.

Equipment rental is $50 per day. We will coordinate with you based on distance and availability if you will need the equipment for more than one day.

Equipment Included in rental:

• 2 bird plucker
• 2 electric homemade scalding tanks, they are utility tubs and will work for turkeys * We use one tank to scald and one tank for the heat seal bags
• Pallet with kill cones attached (hoping to upgrade soon) 

Additional Equipment likely needed by renter:

• Freezer bags
• Cutting boards
• Knives 
• Hook up to garden hose 

Pick up and Drop off details: 

We live in rural Montezuma and will send the address after rental dates are established. We are flexible on the pickup date and time depending on the distance traveled. On the checkout page leave a note with the date you are hoping to book. 

We also travel to Des Moines, Grinnell, Signourney, and Oskaloosa frequently and may be able to arrange pick-up. 

Terms:

There is a $500 refundable deposit. The deposit breaks down as follows:

• $450 will be refunded if all equipment is returned in good, working condition*
• If it is not clean, we will keep $100 as a cleaning fee

*If anything is broken or needs to be replaced, we will refund you the difference of the cost of the repair.

Poultry Crates Rental

Transportation of live chickens and other foul can be quite a challenge, but we know that purchasing poultry crates is expensive. We offer our crates for rent to help you safely transport new egg layers to your home or your meat birds to the processor! 

These crates will hold between 8 and 12 birds (depending on weather conditions and the size of the birds) and are sanitized before each use. They can hold small turkeys or other fowl as well.

 We have 18 crates for rent and there is a $35.00 deposit fee per crate. Each crate must be brought back clean (no feathers or manure) and all of the doors free of damage or we retain the deposit for that crate. The rental rate is $10 per crate– after the return of the crates, we will return the $25 deposit. 

In order to secure your request, you must include the dates you need the crates in the transaction. Please plan for extra days needed if you travel far. 

After the crates are returned and inspected, we will issue a refund for the deposit.

Honey Extractor Rental

Investing in extracting equipment can be a major expense and storage issue for a new or hobby beekeeper! After struggling through renting other people’s equipment for years, we’ve got a smooth system worked out for other hobby beekeepers! Our premium 4-frame radial extractor + tools will get all your honey spun in a short period of time! 

The bonus: renting our extractor helps us set aside money to upgrade our equipment available to rent! We dream of the day we have an on-site place for beekeepers to process their honey quickly and efficiently. 

Equipment rental is $75 per day. We will coordinate with you based on distance and availability if you will need the equipment for more than one day.

Equipment Included in rental:

• 4-frame manual radial extractor
• 5-gallon capping tank with frame holder 
• Uncapping tool
• Uncapping knife

Additional Equipment likely needed by renter:

• 5-gallon buckets with valves 
• Jars
• Mesh filters (if wanting fine strained) 
• Hot knife (We do not use a hot knife, and do not own one!) 

Pick up and Drop off details: 

We live in rural Montezuma and will send the address after rental dates are established. We are flexible on the pickup date and time depending on the distance traveled. On the checkout page leave a note with the date you are hoping to book.

In addition to your rental fee, there is a $250 refundable deposit. The deposit breaks down as follows:

• $200 will be refunded if all equipment is returned in good, working condition*
• $50 will be refunded if the equipment is fully cleaned. If it is not cleaned then the $50 is kept as a cleaning fee.

*If anything is broken or needs to be replaced, we will refund you the difference of the cost of the repair. (Example, $50 in repairs deducted from $200 deposit, $150 will be refunded back to you.)
